The Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda recently revealed the key points in the company's strategy for 2017, with the big surprise being that Nintendo Switch is going to be key to plans, prioritised over other platforms apart from the PS4.

"Right now, what we are paying attention to really is the Switch. We are expecting much because we hear its sales are exceedingly good", he said, adding that they are also looking into Xbox Scorpio, Windows 10 and Google's Tango (via Nikkei and according to a translation by NeoGAF user Principate). In fact, Square Enix is already supporting Nintendo, with almost seven games already announced for the new console.

Matsuda also talked about Final Fantasy XV and why it's so successful, as the company apparently realised that adventure games with a deep story must come to every market at the same time. Digital sales are also becoming a big part of the equation too, as 20% of FFXV copies sold in North America were digital, with some digital sales representing up to 50% of the total amount. He also believes that Western markets demand Japanese products, so they have to stop making changes.

There was also a lot of talk about mobile games, with 2016 not the best year for Square in the mobile market, but Matsuda wants to see different games in this field. Again, a worldwide release is essential too because Japan, China and North America combine to make up to 80% of the mobile games market.
