In our report on the recently revealed Project Scorpio specs, we briefly mentioned that the game DVR on the console will be improved, but we now know a bit more about this, as detailed by Digital Foundry.
Firstly, you can run all media features on backwards compatible titles, which is to be expected, but the updated media block in the processor for Scorpio means it can operate full 4K/60 video encoding with High Effiency Video Coding (HEVC). This high bit-rate encoding means higher quality captures, but most exciting of all, you can move frame-by-frame on the Scorpio to capture the best possible screenshots.
Is this a welcome change to you video editors out there?
