Yesterday Square Enix announced that Nier: Automata, the new intense action game developed by Platinum Games, has sold more than one million copies. It's a big achievement, being still a rather niche game, and the game director Yoko Taro took to Twitter to thank all the fans all around the world who have played and loved Nier: Automata.
With a very touching message, Taro thanked the players and later published a new post in Japanese, saying that Nier: Automata has not yet been published in some Asian countries, and therefore these sales figures may still improve. Apparently Taro's courage in proposing a different and more original game series than many other AAA titles has been justly rewarded, just as he said in a recent interview in Toco Toco TV, where he discussed his gaming philosophy and the Nier series.
Do you think Nier: Automata is so popular because it differs from a lot of other AAA releases?
