Two Square Enix heavy-hitters have left office after dedicating almost 40 years combined to the company. Both announced their departures on March 31, to coincide with the end of 2016's fiscal year, and offered a bit of insight on the reasons they left Square Enix.

Isamu Kamikokuryo, art director on several Final Fantasy games including XV, worked at Square Enix for 18 years, but according to a statement via Twitter, he wished to pursue a freelancing career.

As for Yoshinori Yamagishi, he worked at Square for over 20 years, taking on the role of producer for the Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile series. While not offering a reason to depart, Yamagishi did mention via Twitter that he wishes to work on a new game in a different company.

Are these individuals some of the most talented in the industry?

Thanks Siliconera for picking this up.
