VR seems to be here to stay, regardless of the less than stellar financial performances of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and all over the world organisations are sprouting up to help fuel the flames of innovation. The latest one to do so is a collaboration between Nordic publisher Nordisk Film and gumi Inc., and its plan is to provide investment, incubation, mentorship, and peer community resources to Nordic VR developers in Helsinki, Finland.
Japanese publisher gumi Inc., also a developer, is apparently involved because they see great creative potential in Nordic developers, and want to harness that very same creativity to make compelling VR software.
Hironao Kunimitsu, CEO of gumi Inc., said: "The Nordic region brings tremendous creative and engineering talent to the gaming and film industries, and we're focused on enabling this pool of talent to grow in the VR market with our available resources and expertise. We've already experienced great success with our Tokyo VR Startups program in the East, and by working with the accomplished Nordisk Film group, we'll be able to expand our program further into Europe."
Do you think it's worth companies investing time and money into VR?
