Destiny 2 has officially been unveiled to the world, and aside from a new trailer, we also got some juicy new details about Bungie's highly anticipated sequel, including a story synopsis, which is as follows:

"Humanity's last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city's Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity's scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home."

This comes from the updated Destiny website, where pre-orders are now live, and we also know the platforms: PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Customers who pre-order also receive early access to the game's beta, across all three platforms, which will later be open for all players.

An expansion pass for the game will be available as well, and PS4 players will get exclusive content for at least a year, until autumn next year. The all important news, though, is that Destiny 2 will arrive on September 8 this year, and we'll see more gameplay come May 18.

Another thing to note is that you can carry over characters between games, but most of the stuff like gear will need to be acquired from scratch. Will Destiny 2 be better than the original?
