The Strong Museum of Play has announced the finalists for the World Video Game Hall of Fame this year. Since 2015 twelve games have been inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame, including Super Mario Bros., Space Invaders, The Sims, and Doom, and the finalists for this year are listed below:
- Donkey Kong Country
- Final Fantasy VII
- Halo: Combat Evolved
- Microsoft Windows Solitaire
- Mortal Kombat
- Myst
- Pokémon Red and Green
- Portal
- Resident Evil
- Street Fighter II
- Tomb Raider
- Wii Sports
The Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pong, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Tetris are also in the Hall of Fame, and The Strong Museum plans to announce the final list of 2017 World Video Game Hall of Fame on May 4.
