Sony and Marvel Studios announced last week that they're working hard on an upcoming Venom spinoff film (due to release on October 5), and last night The Hollywood Reporter wrote about the fact that Sony Pictures are working on another spinoff Spider-Man film as well. This one will tell the tale of Silver Sable and Black Cat, and apparently Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost is working on the script.
Yost is allegedly building on a previous version of the script written by co-creator of HBO's Westworld Lisa Joy, and the studio is now allegedly looking for a director, with Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing the project.
Silver Sable has previously been both an ally and enemy to Spider-Man, and Black Cat has a long romantic history with Spider-Man, so it will be interesting to see which direction the film goes in. Are these two characters worthy of their own film?
