It had a rocky start, but Hello Games has proved they're dedicated to No Man's Sky with the recent Pathfinder update, which added support for the PS4 Pro and 4K resolutions alongside the new content.
This wasn't without problems, either, but Hello Games has jumped on a solution swiftly with the new 1.23 patch improving the frame-rate on the PS4 Pro when it's in the 4K resolution. Players can also now completely unlock the frame-rate for that smooth FPS goodness.
The folks over at Digital Foundry have done some extensive testing with the new version and they've found up to a 5 FPS increase in the 4K mode on PS4 Pro, meaning there's a consistent 30 FPS when locked. If you're playing at 1080p on a standard HDTV, expect a flawless 60 FPS no matter the circumstance.
When on the planet surfaces on a standard PS4, it sometimes dropped as low as 30 FPS but usually stuck between 30 and 50. Better frame-rates were found when in space or docked at a space station, sometimes hitting 60 FPS. Their report recommends just capping the frame-rate rather than dealing with the inconsistency.
Along with the PS4 Pro support, there's also plenty of fixes for bugs on PC and you can find the full list here. Is frame-rate a big issue for you in gaming?
