Gears of Wars 4 was the first numbered game in the saga that didn't have the original creator's input, as Cliff Bleszinski left Epic Games and Gears of War in 2014, and the license was passed on to a new Microsoft studio, The Coalition. Now Gamespot has reported the original creator's opinion on Gears of War 4 and the future of the brand.

Bleszinski compared Gears of War 4 to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, claiming both the game and the film gave fans what they wanted while playing it safe. "There wasn't a lot of risk there, so I'm hoping they take a little bit more risk in the future," the producer admitted.

As for Cliff Bleszinski's own future, he is currently working on Lawbreakers for PC, but he did admit he would "love nothing more" than having the FPS on consoles. Do you agree that Gears of War 4 played it safe?
