This Friday, March 3rd is going to be a very busy day for the video games industry and retailers. Not only is it the launch of Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and some other games, it's also the first weekend of Horizon: Zero Dawn on store shelves. It also looks like a price reduction on PlayStation 4 may enter the equation.
According to a trusted Gamereactor source, Sony is negotiating with some retailers to cut down the price of the basic PS4 model to €199.99 (RRP is €269.99) during this Friday to counter the launch of Nintendo Switch. We can't confirm, however, what European countries are involved outside of Italy, so we will be waiting until tomorrow to see what and where it happens.
A strong move by Sony for sure, but we find it hard to believe many gamers will abandon their Switch pre-orders in stores in favour of a PS4, but perhaps it could tempt those not lucky enough to have secured a launch day console.
