Mojang's Minecraft is arguably the biggest creative game in the world right now, allowing users to build everything from a wooden hut to ornate recreations of film sets, fantasy locations, and whatever their minds can conjure. This popularity clearly isn't waning, as Minecraft has now sold 122 million copies worldwide since being launched back in the day by Notch, and being sold off to Microsoft a few years back, as announced via Twitter.

The 122 million figure includes games on all platforms, and the game currently has 55 million monthly active players. Back in June 2016 Minecraft crossed the 100 million line, having had 40 million players back then. Mojang also clarified that the 122 million is in fact paid games, and does not include free Windows 10 game available to owners of the original PC/Mac version of the game.

Is there any stopping Minecraft?
