Insomniac Games will turn 23 years old in a few days, but they don't seem to be affected by their age. 2016 was a very busy year for the studio, as they launched Edge of Nowhere, Feral Rites, Ratchet & Clank, Song of the Deep, and The Unspoken. They aren't exactly slowing down either, as they're working on Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 and more content for The Unspoken at the moment. You'd think that would be enough for the studio, but they seems more than willing to take on more projects.
Speaking with Game Informer, Insomniac Games' Ted Price had this to say when asked why we haven't heard anything about a Sunset Overdrive sequel:
"You'd have to ask Microsoft."
A kind of misleading answer, as he continues with the following statement:
"We are passionate about that franchise, and we own it, so you may see more Sunset in the future from us. No promises, and no timeline to speak of, but it is something that represents our willingness to create unexpected experiences."
With Insomniac owning the IP, Microsoft technically shouldn't have much of a say when it comes to a sequel, but it could very well be that there is some sort of first refusal deal in place. Or it could even be that a sequel was planned and agreed upon, but that Microsoft pulled the plug.
Would you like to see Sunset Overdrive 2 and if so what would you like to see improved?
