Yes, the rumour mill has definitely been speeding up of late. First we heard rumours of Doomfist being the next Overwatch hero, but Jeff Kaplan denied this a few days ago.
Then yesterday Blizzard published a fictional interview with an eleven-year-old girl called Efi, who some thought could be the new hero. We had our doubts, and thought that they might prefer to use one of her robots. At the time of writing, that's still our best guess.
Why do we think this? Because Kaplan couldn't resist teasing us again during his DICE presentation yesterday. And when talking about the development of Overwatch, he showed different concept images from the game, including this one.
As every character except the giant robotic spider tank on the image is in Overwatch already, Kaplan probably knew what the crowd was thinking, and quickly added that the new hero is not who we think it is. (Now, where have we heard that phrasing before? Ah, yes: it's the exact same phrase he used when he said Doomfist wouldn't be the next hero.)
Not enough for you? Then how about the fact that we also see a spider-looking thing right next to Doomfist's gauntlet in Sombra's origin video? Consider us intrigued.
Until Blizzard puts us out of our misery we're just going to have to keep on making educated guesses as to the next hero coming to Overwatch. As soon as Kaplan and co. let us know, you can rest assured that we'll share that info with you here on Gamereactor.
