Blizzard has placed quite a few little details in Overwatch that teases upcoming heroes. Both Ana and Sombra were teased in trailers and via environmental details ahead of their respective launches.
In the last few months we've heard rumours of Doomfist making his way to the hero-centric shooter, this because his name is mentioned in the game's intro, his gauntlet was shown in Sombra's animated short, voice-lines mention his name, and Terry Crews teased that he wants to voice the character. Now it would seem that we'll have to wait for his potential appearance.
Game director Jeff Kaplan has decided to give us an interesting, yet vague hint over on the Battle.net forums by saying that the twenty-fourth hero "is not who you think it is."
With pretty much the entire forum having speculated that Doomfist will be the next character, we're fairly certain that this means that he won't be the next hero we see in the game. The good news is that we might not have to wait all that long before we know who the next character is, as Kaplan teases that the next major update might include the new hero:
"We're always asking ourselves 'what would make the biggest impact for the most people' when we prioritise. Right now, we feel like introducing a new hero to the line-up would be more impactful to the game. Hope that makes sense."
What kind of character are you hoping to see next?
