Last year at E3, Microsoft announced Xbox Scorpio, an improved version of Xbox One that even has almost 50% more raw computing power when compared to PlayStation 4 Pro. Back then they said it would arrive late 2017, and now this has been reaffirmed by the Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

He has posted an open letter where he writes:

"2017 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years ever for Xbox gamers. We are preparing to launch the most powerful console ever made this holiday - Project Scorpio - along with a diverse lineup of games."

Spencer continues by addressing worries that Xbox One would have a shortage of games this year with the cancellation of Scalebound, by saying that there actually will be even more exclusive (PC also included) games than last year:

"In fact, we are committed to delivering even more exclusive games for both Xbox One and Windows 10 this year than we launched in 2016. I was very proud of our first-party lineup in 2016 and I am encouraged by an even bigger and more differentiated first-party lineup in 2017."

Earlier this week it was reported that Microsoft's E3 press conference will take place on June 11 and that Scorpio likely will have some presence. Hopefully we'll get to see proof of Spencer's assurances during that event, which you - as always - will be able to see and read about here at Gamereactor.
