David Ayer may not have hit the big jackpot with last year's Suicide Squad, but the film did make a lot of money, so one would assume that DC Comics and Warner Bros., would simply ask the director to return.
Well, that doesn't seem to be the case, and furthermore, they have a rather strange candidate in mind for the sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter Mel Gibson has been approached to direct Suicide Squad 2, and while no official offer has been made, the Hacksaw Ridge director is currently in early talks, and is familiarising himself with the material.
