The world of video games can sometimes provide us with moving stories, as Gabe Marcela's story certainly is. The 27 year old man affected by a serious illness had a dream he wanted to realise before he passed: being able to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The fan absolutely wanted to stay alive until the launch of the next Zelda after having seen the reveal images, a motivation that prompted his mother to contact Nintendo by any means possible. Touched by this story, Nintendo of America responded by inviting him to their home office to play to the upcoming Zelda adventure.

"He was, in that game, what he was not in life," Marcela's mother told Waypoint. "I could go out walking and Gabe could not join me. When I did, I thought about the fact that he could not get the benefit of fresh cool air and the freedom of just walking in our wooded neighborhood. When I saw the Zelda game, I realised that this was the wonderful world he wanted."

Gabe Marcela unfortunately passed away on January 14, aged 27.

Thanks, Waypoint.
