Fallout 4 "most successful game we've ever launched"

Bethesda's Pete Hines dropped the huge statement.

Bethesda's Pete Hines recently spoke in an interview about Fallout 4, and during the interview he revealed that it was a pretty big success for Bethesda:

"Fallout 4 has gotta be the most successful game we've ever launched in our company's history. More than Skyrim, in terms of what we did."

Now of course, there isn't a huge amount of clarity here as to what he means specifically by this, and that's why Twitter user René Skovbo asked him: "I'm interested in knowing how F4 did "more than Skyrim"? It can't be in copies sold or shipped?"

Hines responded: "I'm comparing them over the same period of time. And yes."

Without specific figures, it's hard to know what to make of these claims, and one user called Kevin Burkhard pointed out (in response to Hines' tweet) that looking at Steam Spy alone reveals Skyrim has sold more than Fallout 4, both in terms of the special edition and the regular. Now while this doesn't prove Hines wrong, since it's only Steam sales, it does raise some interesting questions.

Are you surprised by Hines' claim?
