As it could be expected, Rockstar seems determined to add a massive online multiplayer component in Red Dead Redemption 2, an approach that reminds us of what was done with Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online. Yet, Take-Two immediately wanted to all the players that the different online modes of the respective games won't come into competition, but rather Rockstar aims to provide ongoing support for both games for a long time. During a recent financial call, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, stated as follows:

"Entertainment is something that you want to have, but it's not a need to have. If nothing in the market appeals to you at some time, there's no reason to go and get it. And if multiple things appeal to you, avid consumers will consume all of those things".

"So, I don't think there's any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases apart from the fact that our success is driven by quality. So, I think, the success of Red Dead, which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality. And I think the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto Online is driven by its extraordinary quality".

In any case, the company has already said to be "enthusiastic" about the online segment of Red Dead Redemption 2, and that we will receive new updates on the game by Rockstar soon. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One next autumn.

Were you a fan of the online part of Read Dead Redemption? What would you like to see changed or added in the sequel?

Thanks VG247.
