The Journey returning in FIFA 18

Last year's story mode was popular enough to get a second shot.

If you played last year's FIFA 17, then you'll know that we were treated to a new story-driven mode called The Journey (you can read more about it here if you want to know more). It was obviously quite popular with FIFA fans, with company CEO Andrew Wilson last night telling investors that some 10 million people had played it (though there was no word on how many actually completed it).

While throwing around big numbers is obviously one thing, what was much more interesting was the fact that Wilson confirmed to the same investors that The Journey would be returning in FIFA 18 (in the process putting us out of our misery and confirming that EA are in fact going to release another game in the series).

Beyond Wilson teasing "new story lines and players", we know very little. Will the second season once again focus on the adventures of Alex Hunter, or will it be a new player? Will we be able to take our player to a new competitions, or will he stay in the Premier League for another season?

We're going to have to wait for more intel, but fans of the story-driven mode will at least be able to daydream about what EA Sports will include in The Journey's return come September.
