In the past few hours Microsoft released its financial results for the second fiscal quarter of 2016, which ended on December 31. What emerges from the data is that Xbox sales declined, even if their figures for software and services like Xbox Live were good in the end.

As we learnt in the presentation you can find below, the Gaming Revenue for the second fiscal quarter suffered a decrease of 3%, this being due to the price cut of Xbox One and a slight decrease in the number of consoles sold (especially with regard to Xbox the 360, which is now preparing to end its life cycle). Software and Services saw an increase of 18%, however, with digital transactions reaching a billion dollars in the quarter, and a staggering 55 million active users on Xbox Live (monthly users increased by 15%). Thus, although there has been a fairly significant drop in terms of consoles, Microsoft has managed to find a balance, however, thanks to a significant increase in Software and Services. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue, though.

Will Xbox hardware sales pick up when Project Scorpio sees release later this year?
