Shortly after we got the sad news about Carrie Fisher's passing a few weeks ago, we started hearing rumours that this would have consequences for Star Wars Episode VIII. Lucasfilm quickly denied these rumours, and now they've addressed another one.
Many have speculated that the reason it won't affect the upcoming film is that Lucasfilm will digitally recreate Carrie Fisher like they did Peter Cushing in Rogue One. The studio has now announced that they have no plans to do this.
"Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars."
Do you think this is the wise decision, or should they have done something else?
