To use our consoles and computers to stream movies via services from, amongst others, Amazon, Netflix and Google, is very common in this day and age, and there has even been surveys that indicate that more time is being spent streaming shows than playing games.
However, it turns out that chilling out with Netflix on (as opposed to Netflix and chill, which is something altogether quite different) isn't as good for the environment as some might have thought.
We know this because Greenpeace has published a report called Clean Click, where it shows that Amazon, Asus, Netflix, LG and Samsung are using energy sources that are damaging the environment. Roughly a third of the energy used by these services comes from coal (sometimes even more).
Meanwhile, companies like Apple, Facebook, Google, Spotify and Yahoo is doing really well, and use clean energy instead.
Some of the companies says they have been taking steps to reduce their use of environmentally damaging energy sources, but judging from the same report last year, very little has happened.
