Sony has confirmed that the Playstation 3 had sold more than 5 million consoles in the UK.
Sony's UK MD Fergal Gara told MCV: "It is fantastic that we passed the 5m mark. But most importantly to me is not the milestone itself, but the fact that there is momentum behind it. And with the new chassis, and the way the market is panning out this year, PlayStation definitely has the momentum."
The announcement comes the day before the release of a new 12GB model, and following hot on the heels of the 500GB model released at the tail end of last month.
