A select group of For Honor players recently got to experience the alpha for the game, however, they were given an NDA to not disclose what they saw. For one Reddit user, however, that's not stopped them from revealing one key bit of information: the matchmaking was disappointing.
User MexGrow's post reads as follows: "Ubisoft is about to release their new IP, one that has been shown on E3 and most everyone is familiar with now: For Honor. Ever since the first alpha came out, people have been constantly met with connectivity issues since the game uses P2P which always brings these kind of problems. For a game being released in February 2017, with such a large budget, it's unacceptable that they are not using dedicated servers."
They also include a video of the issues, which you can find here. "You spend a whole lot of time just sitting in menus or looking at the VS screen, it takes forever for matches to finally start (And it's not loading, if you play against AI, it loads very quickly) so imagine how frustrating it is to be thrown back to the main menu when it fails," MexGrow explains.
"There is a thread over at /r/forhonor with a petition asking Ubisoft to implement dedicated servers, and while petitions are usually considered useless, I think the main thing we need to push for right now is mass awareness of how the game's multiplayer is being handled, for the sake of lowering costs." The petition can be found here.
"For Honor is an excellent title, but we all now how terrible P2P matches are, and if the game does not ship with proper dedicated server support, I for one, will not be purchasing this game. I hope to bring awareness to this issue and that Ubisoft understands that most people are not happy about playing on P2P connections."
Do you think the P2P connection issue is serious enough to cause problems for For Honor?
