We've gotten quite a few video game movies lately, and more are on the way. Most of them are based on known franchises, but there are also a few exceptions. Like Will Ferrell's upcoming project.

Deadline has revealed that Mr Anchorman himself, and his studio Gary Sanchez Productions, has teamed up with Legendary Pictures to make an esports movie.

Michael Kvamme and Jordan Dunn are said to be writing the script, which sees Ferrell as a member of a professional esports team. With Farrell being 49 even that minor detail can almost be considered comedy, as esports players usually retires in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination and reflexes.

There might also be an extra treat for esports fans, as Evil Geniuses and Fnatic, two of the world's top teams, are in talks to be part of the project.

It'll be very interesting to see if they can find the perfect balance between fun references and poking fun at the industry. We'll definitely keep an eye on the movie's development.
