During the last years of development, the folks at Square Enix took special pride in one particular aspect of Final Fantasy XV when they showed it off in various trailers and events, which was the Adamantoise, a gigantic epic boss fight which would allegedly take three real days to complete.
This happened most recently during the Clueless Gamer segment of the Conan O'Brien Show, where a PR representative reaffirmed: "it takes 72 real-time hours to beat it, like in a row."
In an earlier interview, however, game director Hajime Tabata said to Square Portal that the fight would actually take around 15 hours to complete.
Those are two very different numbers, so which is it?
YouTuber PowerPyx has reported that the fight actually takes around 50 minutes or so. He used a character in level 69 with maxed out combination attacks, and he stated in a comment: "Unless you go AFK for 71 hours, there's no way the fight will last that long."
Did you want it to last 72 hours?
