Dead Rising 4 brings Frank West back, but changes in many other ways. We know that there won't be co-op in story mode, that Frank gets a new voice actor, and that the timer is pretty much gone. Now we know why Capcom made these changes.

In an interview with GamesIndustry studio head Joe Nickolls clarifies that the timer isn't completely gone. It will be part of multiplayer and towards the end of the story, and this is because they feel it matters more there. At the same time executive producer Bryce Cochrane explains that they want to more Dead Rising games, and that it involves expanding and changing the franchise. Sometimes this includes taking risks that fans might not like the thought of. He does however think that it turns out for the best at the end. His example is how people didn't like the thought of using the right analogue stick in NHL, but now almost every game uses it.
