Two modders, Lewis Palfrey and Luke Millanta, have launched maps in CS:GO with variable weather conditions, with each having 10 different weather patterns that are selected at random.
Cache, Dust 2, Overpass, and Mirage are the maps affected, and now you can experience it in a thunderstorm, a sandstorm, and even thick fog, all of which can change in intensity. The detail applied is impressive as well, as rain will collect into puddles when the downpour starts.
"I've been playing Counter-Strike since 2005," Millanta said in an interview. "In August I came up with the idea for adding changing weather conditions into CS:GO. I knew I needed a partner as I only had a small amount of time to work on the project and knew that my mapping skills were not as advanced as others." Palfrey provided this, and has done modding in the past for CS: GO.
"When raining it is harder to both hear enemies approaching and to see without the aid of a sniper rifle," Millanta added. "This means that while your enemy may have an advantage while AWPing, it is easier for those stealthy players to sneak up on said AWPers.
He also mentioned that "the feedback thus far has been quite good." You can see the mod here. Is this a feature that appeals to you?
