Considering the mixed fortunes of the Wii U, you might expect retail execs to be cautious about the prospects of Nintendo's next console, the Switch. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The console-handheld hybrid certainly raised eyebrows when it was announced last month, and there's a feeling among senior management at US retail chain GameStop that Switch could be another game-changer for Nintendo.

CEO Paul Raines revealed his thoughts to investors regarding the device, this after having sampled it for himself, saying:

"The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago--we believe could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming."

"I think it has tremendous potential as a game-changer. We'll have to wait and see. Like everything else in this industry, the consumers will vote with their dollars."

Raines also suggested some kind of motion controls, adding: "The Switch is a very interesting device.... A movement-related game is more fun for kids, you know, taking those [Joy-con controllers off] and then the master controller, you can really do a lot of interesting things with that in gameplay."

Thanks, Gamespot.
