It was November 15 2001 that Microsoft first launched Halo: Combat Evolved and forever changed the action genre. It revolutionised shooters and also helped Microsoft sell enough Xbox consoles to continue developing the brand to what it is today. Reaching the milestone of 15 years as a series is a major thing, especially in a young business like video games, and 343 Industries and Microsoft have big plans for the occasion.
343 Industries will offer plenty of old Halo memories streamed via Twitch and they will also reveal information regarding Halo Wars 2, as well as answering questions from the fans. There will also be a playlist dripping with sweet nostalgia in Halo 5: Guardians with Halo: Combat Evolved maps created in Forge.
There will even be free stuff, although it's not yet revealed what this will be. The official Halo blog does however give some clues by writing: "What kind of birthday party would it be without goodie bags for attendees!? I don't want to spoil the surprise but I think you'll dig it."
343 Industries also mentions that that there is more free DLC content coming for Halo 5, and it looks like it might be a nice week to spend with the grand old Spartan Master Chief. To watch the celebrations, tune in to Halo's Twitch at 3:43 pm PST (see what they did there?), which is 11:43 pm GMT, 12:43 am CET.
Of all the games in the series, which one is your favorite?
