When 4A Games revealed ARKTIKA.1 last month many feared that we wouldn't see a new Metro game from the studio for quite some time. However, it turns out that our fears were unfounded.
The official website for the newest novel in the series, Metro 2035, has received a very interesting update today. A description of the book reveals some interesting information regarding the overarching story:
"The final part of the trilogy takes us back to Artyom and his struggle to get the people back to the above world they once ruled. "
On top of that, not only does it say that the novel has been translated and is ready to be released on December 10, but a timeline at the bottom reveals that "the next Metro video game" is set to release in 2017. A short snippet of text beneath the entry reads:
"It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead..."
It doesn't mention the previous games made by developer 4A Games, but given the evidence to hand we're fairly certain this is the second game that they're working on.
What improvements do you want to see in the final (?) Metro game when it finally surfaces next year?
