Blizzard: Warcraft remasters wouldn't be fun

Times have changed, and so has the genre.

We've heard rumours of the two first Warcraft games getting remastered for some time now, but apparently these rumours aren't going to be proven true, if Blizzard's Frank Pearce is to be believe.

When a fan asked Pearce, one of Blizzard's co-founders, about the possibility of seeing remasters during a Q&A session at BlizzCon, Pearce had this to say:

"We had some dedicated folks that were passionate about the idea, dig up the Warcraft 1 assets and code. They got it working and they got it running in a window. And I played it. Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was awesome for its time. I promise you, in today's world, by today's standards, it's just not that fun any more."

"We have limited resources with everything that we choose to do. We would much rather work on amazing content for World of Warcraft for you guys, or for Overwatch, or evaluating what a future project pipeline might be and devote our time to that, rather than going back and digging up those fossils."

So there you have it. Blizzard seems to be focusing on other projects, though it's worth noting that Blizzard president, Mike Morhaime, was quick add "At this time!" after Pearce's comments. Would you like to see some remasters, or is the time past now?
