Yesterday we reported that the production of Wii U consoles will be ending this week, after multiple sources suggested that Nintendo will stop making the console as early as Friday.
This might not be the case, however, after an unnamed Nintendo spokesperson told Japanese outlet IT Media that yesterday's report "is not true", in particular focusing on the part of the story that suggested that production will cease this Friday.
The "production is scheduled to continue," the company said, although no doubt they've got one eye on the future with the Switch set to land in March of next year. We'll have to wait and see what happens next, but our bet is that the production of the Wii U will end sooner rather than later.
