Kongregate has been in the world of free-to-play games for a while, and now plans to release indie games via Steam as well, the first of which will be Slashy Hero. Not only that, but Kongregate's software development kit is also updated, allowing a player's progress to be shared across many platforms.

Kongregate's co-founder Emily Greer spoke about the transition in an interview, saying: "Despite the growth of newer platforms, PC gaming remains a viable and exciting option that our players want to explore. By adding Steam to our publishing business, we can support even more indie developers and deliver unique and innovative content to gamers worldwide. "

"We've revamped our title Slashy Hero for Steam: it was ad-supported/free-to-play on mobile, but we reworked the balance and UI, added content, and are releasing it as a premium title to give it the best chance of success. We're generally interested in the premium game market and are exploring opportunities there more broadly."

As well as Slashy Hero, a card game called Spellstone will also make its way to Steam soon as well, and many more games should hopefully follow. Are you a Slashy Hero fan?
