Despite launching on PC, PS4 and Xbox One all at the same time, Respawn's excellent sci-fi shooter sequel, Titanfall 2, hasn't been able to make the impact that its creators would have wanted, at least so far.

It's being reported that Titanfall 2 only shifted a quarter of copies compared to what the original did, this despite it launching on more platforms (the first game landed on PC and Xbox One).

Looking at the game's launch window it's easy to guess why the Titanfall sequel has under-performed, landing as it does in-between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The question, then, is could it have been moved to avoid the big hitters?

Apparently not. According to produce Drew McCoy the release date was locked down well in advance and it wasn't possible to move it and give the game more room to breathe at launch.

"I actually don't know where the decision came from," McCoy said when asked who picked the launch date. "I just know it was locked in a long time ago and there was no changing it.

"At the end of the day, we're releasing a game that we're happy with, and we enjoy playing, that we're proud of. As long as we're doing that, I think we're gonna find an audience. It doesn't really matter when it comes out. A good game gets noticed."

And what a good game it is. Head this way to read our review and find out why we like it so much.
