Interesting information on console sales has emerged, showing that Xbox has topped the console market for the second consecutive month, with PlayStation yet again lagging behind Microsoft's console.

GfK figures show that the Xbox One outsold its rival by 1,500 units in September, but in October the gap widened to 25,000 units. Xbox One also held a 56% share of the UK console market compared to 42% for PS4 and 2% for Wii U, selling 99,496 units.

This success can be attributed to many factors, not least of which is the launch of the Xbox One S in September. There have also been exclusives launched in recent weeks, like Gears of War 4 for example, which have no doubt boosted sales.

"Thanks to our fans, Xbox One was the best-selling console in October, the second month in a row in the UK, according to GfK Entertainment," said the Xbox UK Marketing Director Harvey Eagle. "It's great to see such enthusiasm for the new Xbox One S range of consoles including FIFA 17, Gears of War 4, Battlefield 1 and now - for the first time - Minecraft. All of which are available to purchase now."

Do you think the playing field between Xbox and PlayStation is more level now?
