After years of rumours and waiting, Ubisoft finally confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is in development earlier this month. Three years ago Michel Ancel, the first game's director, told us that the limitations of last-gen hardware was one of the reasons for the long wait. Today he's ready to explain why they needed the extra power.
Ancel shared the information in a post on his Instagram account earlier today.
"The game was playable with many prototypes . All videos were realtime, but we had too many technical issues. We wanted planet exploration , space travel , cities ... All this was also supposed to be in BGE 1 (Beyond Good & Evil) ... Instead of not doing the game of our dreams , we decided to return to 2D , have fun with Rayman and go back at work for Beyond Good & Evil 2 . We still have loooooots of work, but now the tech is ready and the team is fantastic!"
It definitely sounds like they have high hopes for the anticipated sequel, so here's hoping that this generation of consoles is powerful enough. With the rumours of Nintendo NX's specifications, does this confirm that Beyond Good & Evil 2 isn't a NX exclusive?
