Oculus Connect 3 brought a lot of news about the new direction the company is taking to find a wider audience, including the launch date and price for Oculus Touch and lower PC specs for running the headset. But there was one familiar face missing from the show, Palmer Luckey. The founder of the company and posterboy of VR didn't take the stage this year after the recent scandal in volving his funding of a political troll group.

"Palmer decided not to attend OC3 because he didn't want to be a distraction," said Oculus co-founder and VP of product Nate Mitchell to Polygon after his speech. "Palmer absolutely decided that he was not going to be here", he added.

The Daily Beast revealed on September 23 that Luckey was backing the unofficial pro-Trump group Nimble America, and organisation that has been attacking Hillary Clinton with shitposting, dirty memes and images on the internet.

Some developers drop Oculus Rift Support after media echoes Palmers activities, but for Mitchell there is another silent point of view: "I think that if you talk to the developers who work with us and know us I think they were surprised at some of the media articles about Palmer and the whole situation."

Do you think that Oculus will benefit from Luckey's absence?
