Microsoft and Sony seem convinced that Kinect and Move will add another five years to the lifespan of their ageing consoles. But in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz Ubisoft's Alain Corre doesn't seem convinced.

When asked if Move and Kinect could prolong the current console cycle with more than two years Corre simply replied: "I don't think so, no."

His belief is that the peripherals will at best give the consoles a short boost and perhaps add casual appeal.

"Yes, it's a good extension of the lifecycle for a certain length of time and it's also a good way to capture some consumers they didn't have on the casual side, because Microsoft's 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 do not have the casual customers. So it will bring in a new category of customer for them." Alain Corre tells Gamesindustry.biz.

The level of success achieved by Kinect and Move will be one of the major determining factors as to when we will see the next generation of consoles emerge.

Weeeeeeehhaaaaa!
