Revolution Software, had announced that if the Kickstarter campaign for Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse were to reach $1 million they would also make Beneath a Steel Sky 2. However, the campaign only reached $771, 651 (PayPal contributions put the total at $820,000), enough to secure a release for Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse (target was $400,000), but Revolution were so move by the response they got from fans that they felt Beneath a Steel Sky 2 was a great idea anyway.
