As last month's For Honor alpha was the most successful in Ubisoft history chances are some of you took part in it. You might even have some thoughts on it, as so many others did, and now Ubisoft are ready to talk about changes they are making to the game after the feedback.
First of all, Ubisoft saw that many players didn't know of certain mechanics due to the bad exposition and learning curve. The game's Producer, Stephane Cardin, says that they've already improved this aspect, and will continue to polish it till they're satisfied.
Obviously some characters were overpowered, and the Orochi especially is being tweaked. The same goes for the progression system. Many players felt that they got too many rewards, which made it feel cheap at the end. Ubisoft are tweaking this, so that it'll hopefully be rewarding, but not too rewarding.
The online infrastructure seemed to work very well, with "99% of all players" being able to join a match within 20 seconds. Unfortunately it didn't work quite as well in terms of skill matching. Some players was put up against far superior players, but this will not be the case in the final game.
These are the main points Cardin wanted to talk about, but he also said that they're making minor changes to the maps, and the character movements.
Then there are some bad news. Ubisoft has decided to not include split screen co-op in the game. They want to make sure that every aspect of the game is of a very high quality, and therefore had to prioritise other modes. This means that the only way you'll be able to play with your friends is in online co-op.
We also got some interesting statistics from the alpha. Here we see just how popular Orochi was, how many hours the average player spent in the alpha, that a players spent an incredible 53 hours with it (please remember those very important breaks, dear friends), the most popular modes, and much more.
Did you take part in the alpha, and if so; did you enjoy it?
