Amazon announces 4v4 sports brawler Breakaway

Built with Lumberyard and with streaming in mind.

Amazon Game Studios announced its first three titles last night and among them was 4v4 "sports brawler" Breakaway. The game features characters of legend such as "relentless gladiator Spartacus, the twisted sorceress Morgan Le Fay, and the bloodthirsty warlord Vlad the Impaler", and they will fight for control of of locations like El Dorado, Atlantis, and Styx.

Breakaway may sound like your standard MOBA deal when you first hear about it, but something called "buildables" is there to mix things up and make it more interesting. Here is how it is described in the press release:

"At the start of each round, warriors can summon persistent buildables onto the playing field that dynamically alter the game. Buildables can besiege foes, shield teammates, or create new pathways through the arena."

The game is being built with the Amazon Lumberyard engine, which is built on CryEngine in turn, and the game has been designed with streaming in mind from the start.

Amazon Game Studios have opened the sign up for alpha-testing over on their website.
