It looks like developer Hi-Rez Studios is calling time with Tribes: Ascend as they released a new update called "Parting Ways". The game will remain available for download alongside all of its micro-transactions but from now on, there will be no official support.

The studios' departure shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone as their focus has shifted towards their other game Smite, which has been enjoying great success, as well as their next game Paladins.

The last update Tribes: Ascend had was back in 2015 which was called 'Out of the Blue'. The name of the update was fitting considering that the game back then, hadn't had an update for two years.

There is no word yet that as a result of the studio being done with the game that, the micro-transactions will disappear in the future.

Tribes: Ascend is a free-to-play game and is available on Steam.
