UK advertising watchdogs ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) are looking into potential false marketing for No Man's Sky, in particular with regards to its Steam page after several players reported finding issues with its marketing.
The ASA are looking into both Hello Games and Valve as the central focus on the case is the Steam page that features screenshots and trailers with features not present in the game.
Reddit user AzzerUK was one of those filing a complaint and he has received word that ASA are looking into the issue.
While the ASA has no legislative power, if they find Hello Games and Valve guilty of false advertising it will have an effect on marketing in similar fashion going forward. They can also have the advertising removed, but we suspect Valve will soon make sure that the No Man's Sky Steam page is up to scratch, if Hello Games won't do it themselves.
And so the saga of No Man's Sky continues. Here's hoping some lessons are learned here for the future.
