Sony president Shuhei Yoshida has commented on the disappointment many fans over No Man's Sky. Yoshida said at Tokyo Game Show 2016 that he understands the critical reception and blamed it on Hello Games' pre-release PR strategy.

According to the Sony chief, it was this approach that built up unrealistic expectations with players. He also mentioned that he enjoyed the game but could appreciate why others might not feel the same way.

"It wasn't a great PR strategy, because he didn't have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer. But he says their plan is to continue to develop No Man's Sky features and such, and I'm looking forward to continuing to play the game", explained Yoshida in the interview.
