In an interview Bioware Creative Director Mac Walters revealed that Mass Effect: Andromeda's male and female character options are siblings.
In Andromeda there is more of a focus on the hero's family and while it isn't certain whether the sibling features in the game, your father certainly shows up.
"We're seeing our male character, at E3 we got to see our female character," Walters explained. "A little surprise here - these two are actually brother and sister."
"They both exist in the game world at the same time. If you're playing as the female Ryder, your brother is out there somewhere in the universe."
He also revealed that the character seen at E3 two years ago, the N7, is actually your father.
