Virtual reality has been a hot topic for several years now, but it wasn't until this year consumer editions of the various headsets started coming out. The front runners are Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and the upcoming PlayStation VR, and the release of these products has resulted in a massive increase of virtual reality chatter online.

In fact, the amount of articles and other web content about VR and the neighbouring AR (augmented reality) has increased by an astonishing 548 percent between January 2015 and today. This according to a "Digital Insights Gaming Report" made by none other than Adobe.

The same report also states that esports have seen major increase in popularity in the same period, rising by 40 per cent. This makes esports more popular than NFL online!
