Overwatch developer Blizzard has just taken the fight to the trolls with a quirky patch that landed on the PTR (Public Test Realm) last week.
The patch sees the post-game banter from cheeky players, such as the oh so mocking "gg ez" (good game, easy) replaced by new messages. Some of them are innocent enough:
It was an honor to play with you all. Thank you.
Good game! Best of luck to you all!
Well played. I salute you all.
Others, though, are much more entertaining for those who were previously on the end of taunts:
I'm wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you all for playing with me.
I feel very, very small... please hold me.
Mommy says people my age shouldn't suck their thumbs.
The latest patch also includes changes relevant to the upcoming second season of Overwatch's competitive mode. The new season will include a much bigger range of skill rankings as Blizzard aims to target more evenly matched contests, and sudden death will no longer be a feature. Full patch notes can be found here if you need them.
